Just to let the followers of our concerts in The Great Hall at Barts know that last year was no exception in raising funds for the Cancer Unit at Barts. Our focus has been the Cancer Unit for about 25 years, and I never cease to be amazed at how generous our supporters have always been!
In 2018, we gave a cheque to the Unit for £2,100 which is the total concert proceeds for the year. The Unit staff are deciding where the money will be used – it is always to improve areas/facilities for patients and staff and is most welcome. I think of it as providing the ‘icing on the cake’ which the NHS can’t be expected to provide. Having trained and worked at Barts as a nurse, I also know the difference this financial support can make.
Thank you to all our supporters for continuing to come to our concerts throughout the year. We all have fun and raise funds for the Cancer Unit at the same time – a win-win situation!
2019 UPDATE – We are pleased to let you know that we were able to hand over the proceeds from concerts throughout the year to the Interim Director of Nursing, Angela Robinson, in the total of £2,372.
This is only possible due to the generosity of our audiences, BAFCO members, and those who attend our Come & Sing events. Thank you for helping to make a real difference.
