BAFCO CHRISTMAS CONCERT WILL GO AHEAD ON MONDAY 13th DECEMBER 2021
Taking the recent guidelines regarding Covid 19 into consideration, the concert will go ahead with the following requirements from both audience and performers:
Tested negative to a Lateral Flow Test on Monday 13th December
Masks will be worn at all times unless performing
Completion of contact details if not already known (Track & Trace)
All attending to be aware and responsible for their own social distancing.
It will be a lovely start to the festive season, we must all play our part to keep ourselves and others safe.
Thanks to all those who came to sing in the choir and play in the orchestra on Sunday – for the Mozart Requiem from scratch! There was a good buzz of enjoyment all round, and it was clear that so many of us are delighted to get back to singing and playing again.
John Lumley outlined the plans for next year which will be the 50th year since BAFCO (Bart’s Academic Festival Choir and Orchestra) started. Dates are still to be confirmed, but as soon as they are – the plans will be put on this website so as many of you as possible can join our current choir for a great choral year!
Don’t forget that singers can join us again on Sunday 28th November at 2 pm, to sing Handel’s Messiah – again from scratch – look out your music and put the date in your diary!
Our orchestral concert on 27th September was a great celebration of our return to performing in the Great Hall at Barts!
The programme of Rossini, Haydn and Mozart were fully appreciated by our audience. In particular, the performance of the pianist, François-Xavier Villemin, in the Mozart piano concerto was a real joy. How François-Xavier manages to juggle his career as a concert pianist here and in France, with a career in banking – I do not know!
We look forward to our Christmas Concert on Monday 13th December, where we will start our celebrations for the festive season, and the audience will be able to join the choir and orchestra in carols to send us on our way!
BAFCO have followed all the advice from the Government for the last 18 months.
We missed meeting each other but some of the choir managed to meet up as usual on Friday evenings, thanks to Zoom and Spotify!
The orchestra arranged a few Sunday workshops when restrictions allowed and NOW WE ARE BACK!
The choir have had 2 Friday evening practices at 7 pm in St Bartholomew the Less as usual – it’s wonderful for us to be back together again. We are currently working on Mozart Requiem.
Anyone interested in joining the choir – please contact 020 7588 3635 for more information.
