Looking towards 2020…

Our Christmas Concert in the Great Hall was a lovely way to start the lead up to Christmas!  We immersed ourselves in Mozart, Elgar, Bach, Handel and favourite carols for everyone to sing.  The woodwind excelled themselves in the orchestral pieces and the choir enjoyed singing the choruses from the Messiah, and Christmas Oratorio.

The audience were as generous as ever with donations towards the Barts Cancer Unit, and everyone enjoyed both singing the carols and the wine and mince pies in the interval!  A lovely evening all round, with the Great Hall full of Christmas Joy and a beautiful twinkling Christmas tree!  Thanks to our faithful followers – it was good to see both friends and newcomers!

The Seasons

The choir starts again on Friday 10th January 2020 at 7.00 pm, rehearsing The Seasons by Franz Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) – one of the last great movements that he wrote, based on the poem by James Thomson (1700-1748).  This secular oratorio is written for soloists, choir and orchestra.

If you would like to sing with us, please do get in touch via this link to our Contact Us page.  We welcome new members and would love to hear from you.

In the meantime, we wish you the very best for the festive season and look forward to seeing you in the New Year.

The Haydn-Fest was a really lovely evening all round!  There were lots of compliments from all quarters, so thank you to the orchestra, choir and, of course, our conductor, for a great performance in such a short time.

And we extend special thanks to our soloists:

Helen Miles (Soprano)
Jennifer Westwood (Mezzo-soprano)
Andrew Burden (Tenor)
Gerard Delrez (Bass)

for their support and participation, which added so much to the enjoyment of all.
