After the summer holidays, we are ready to start rehearsals on Friday 6th September preparing choruses from Handel’s Samson for our next concert in October. We rehearse in Barts-the-Less at 7 pm, which is in the grounds of Barts Hospital.
This will be followed by our Come & Sing in November of Mendelssohn’s Elijah, then we’ll be working on repertoire for our Christmas Concert with audience carols.

Join us for an evening in the company of Dvorak’s Cello Concerto that tells of unrequited love, followed by Cherubini’s Requiem in C Minor, singled out for praise by Beethoven, Schumann and Brahms some two hundred years prior.
Our concerts are currently hosted at ‘The Musicians’ Church’ – Holy Sepulchre Church, Holborn Viaduct – opposite the Old Bailey, around the corner from Barts Hospital.
All ticket profits are donated to Barts Cancer Unit towards that something extra for patients and staff. It would be great to have your company too.
Our Christmas Concert in Holy Sepulchre on 11th December was a great start to the festive season – the programme included Christmas music, carols, wine and mince pies and was well attended – the profits being accrued for the Barts Cancer Unit. The audience appeared to enjoy singing well known carols with the choir and orchestra, and also the new venue! Holy Sepulchre is a large church and there was an equally large Christmas tree beautifully lit for the occasion.

SPRING TERM
We look forward to starting rehearsals on Haydn’s: The Seasons next Friday, 12th January, at 7 pm in Barts-the-Less. Written after the success of The Creation, The Seasons is written for Soprano, Tenor & Bass soloists, SATB choir and orchestra.
PLEASE NOTE: There is no rehearsal on Friday 19th January.

We will also be preparing for our next Come & Sing in February, which will be Verdi Requiem. We have a wonderful instant concert on a Saturday afternoon with soloists, choir and orchestra. All that we ask is that you bring your own score.
Entry is free but you are most welcome to leave a donation to Barts Cancer Unit, which benefits from the proceeds of all our concerts and events.

Barts Great Hall is now closed for a few years for renovation. Our new home is Holy Sepulchre without Newgate – just down the road opposite the Old Bailey! The Team at Holy Sepulchre have given us a great welcome – and we held our first public event on Saturday – a “Come & Sing” Mozart Requiem and Nelson Mass. The orchestra of approximately 30 strong and about 60 singers had a wonderful musical day in the Musician’s Church.
Thank you Holy Sepulchre – we have arrived and feel fully welcomed!
